The NSW Department of Education has introduced a new policy on students' use of mobile phones. While it is targeted specifically at high schools, we have also reviewed Narranga students' use of mobile phones in order to minimise disruption and prepare our students for high school. This policy includes the use of related devices such as smart watches which can be used to text or call.
Narranga's policy is as follows:
Student use of mobile phones or related devices is banned on school grounds.
Students should not bring their phones or related devices to school unless there is a specific need.
In exceptional circumstances, parents may request that students be allowed to leave their mobile phone in their schoolbag for use before or after school. Exceptional circumstances may include an identified medical condition
If a student uses their phone or related device at school it will be confiscated. Parents will be required to collect it from the office.
The school accepts no responsibility for any loss or damage to any phone or related device on school grounds.
